Kristin Auclair’s inspiration to work in health care came close to home.

“I worked in the lab at (Penticton Regional Hospital) for nine years before making my change and working as an admitting clerk,” Kristin said. “My mom inspired me with my career in the lab because she was also in the lab for many years.”

Kristin says one of her proudest moments working for Interior Health was getting a permanent full-time position in the lab after working many years as a casual. She also credits getting a job in admitting, which she had always wanted, as another one of her proudest moments.

Kristin was excited to transition to a career in admitting because of the direct impact she gets to make on patients.

A typical day for her includes preparing slates for doctors, specialists and procedures, and assisting patients in updating all their personal information as well as getting registered and handling paperwork for their visits in hospital.

I love being able to assist people who are coming in for procedures or appointments, getting them to their appointment with ease and making them feel comfortable in the hospital.

Kristin and her high school sweetheart, Pete, celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2022. She celebrated another magical anniversary in 2022: her 20th visit to Disneyland.

“I love everything about Disneyland, including family time in the ‘Happiest Place on Earth,’ Mickey, the rides, the food, the atmosphere, the entertainment,” she said. “Sometimes you just never want to grow up.”

As part of Kristin and Pete’s 25-year celebration, they took their kids to Hawaii for the first time and went to Disney’s island in Aulani.

“It was such an amazing trip,” Kristin said.

Kristin describes herself as hardworking, fun loving and friendly. She also loves walking on trails around Penticton, spending time with family and friends and just enjoying life. She looks forward to more opportunities to travel in the future.
