1. Analysts & Developers

By simplifying and streamlining computer related processes for clinicians and support staff, these professionals directly contribute to improved patient care.

  • Clinical Analyst - Clinical Analysts work in partnership with Interior Health staff that work directly with patients.  The role of the Clinical Analyst is to understand the business of health care so they can help to simplify and streamline computer related processes which in turn contribute to improved patient care.  This is a challenging role as health care is a constantly changing environment requiring a diversity of skills.
  • Business Analyst: Business Analysts are key liaisons for systems which directly support operational business units, such as Human Resources, Finance, Materials Management and Accounts Receivable, as well as supporting the organization’s use of email systems. The analysts have opportunities to apply skills such as customer service, process analysis, planning and project management for departmental and organizational wide system upgrades and implementations. A dynamic and rewarding role, analysts not only support critical systems, but tap into rewarding experiences in system and process design through which they feel they are truly “Making a Difference”.
  • Developer - Developers in IMIT have an opportunity to work on innovative and ingenious solutions to complex business and clinical challenges.  As a developer there is a real feeling that your work is directly assisting  and supporting health care professionals in their day to day activities.  Interior Health offers developers a collaborative team environment in which successes are celebrated and creativity is encouraged.
  • Data Warehouse Architect - Accurate, reliable information is essential for making good clinical and business decisions.  The IMIT team of data warehouse architects take clinical and business transactional and master data and extract, translate and load this into the various subject areas of the data warehouse. The data is transformed into usable and easily understood information so that clinicians and business users can run standard published reports from the extensive library; or alternatively create their own, using a powerful and easy to use reporting tool. Working with data stewards and analysts, using data analysis and design skills, the data warehouse architect ensures that information is available to the organization in an easily consumable and accessible format.
  • Report Writer - Reports are critical to the day to day operation of the business of healthcare. Whether it be operational reporting or forms production from clinical or business systems, or management reporting showing short and long term trends and charts, this information is key to making good clinical and business decisions.  The IMIT team of report writers work with business and clinical analysts to develop reports to meet the constantly changing needs and requirements of Interior Health.

2. Clinical Professionals

Bringing expertise from their field of study to the IMIT team.

  • Nursing Informatics Specialist - With training and experience as a Nurse, these professionals bring their specific knowledge and work as part of the IMIT team.  They work with clinicians and IMIT staff to ensure IMIT solutions lead to improved patient care.
  • Lab Information System Application Specialist - As Medical Laboratory Technologists certified with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS), these professionals bring their specific knowledge of laboratory process to the IMIT team.  They work with Lab Technologists, clinicians and IMIT staff to ensure Laboratory related IMIT solutions lead to improved patient care.
  • PACS Administrator - As Diagnostic Imaging Technologists certified with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), these professionals utilize their specific knowledge of diagnostic imaging as part of the IMIT team.  They work with Technologists, clinicians and IMIT staff to ensure PACS, RIS and related solutions lead to improved patient care.
  • Biomedical Technologist and Biomedical Engineer - With Biomedical Technologist or Engineering diplomas and degrees, these professionals work on medical devices and systems within Interior Health hospitals.  Their role is to provide a wide variety of technical support to clinicians using medical devices including device maintenance, risk reduction and technology planning.  Biomedical Technologists and Engineers contribute directly to high quality patient care.

3. IT Technical Professional

Bringing technical innovation while striving to attain the highest environmental standards to meet the growing needs of Interior Health.

  • Service Desk Analyst - Service Desk Analysts work closely as a group to provide 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, first point of contact support to the 19,000 Interior Health staff located at multiple facilities spread throughout Interior Health.  They cover all computer technologies as well as user access requests and issues.
  • Field Support Technician - Field Support Technicians provide desk side and 2nd level remote support during business hours for computer, software and print technologies used within Interior Health. We are considered the “face” of IMIT when we are moving throughout the IHA sites providing our service.
  • Core Technology Services Analyst - Core Technology Services Analysts are each specialists in their own area of technology – and we handle a lot of technology. Using enterprise-class systems from messaging, to server administration, to desktop imaging, to storage management to name a few, we play a key role in keeping Interior Health’s computer systems running smoothly and delivering new technologies to solve ever-changing healthcare technology needs.
  • Network Technicians and Analyst - These Technicians and Analysts support the largest network in use among all British Columbia Health Authorities.
  • Privacy & Security Analyst - Staff working in this area ensure compliance with current law, regulations and Interior Health policy for both patient and non-patient information; providing information privacy and security consultations; risk assessments; auditing access; monitoring network activity, identifying technical solutions, etc.
  • Service Process Improvement - Staff have ITIL background or training, although the department does not adhere to any single industry standard methodology when processing incident, change and service requests.  All IMIT staff use large-market software to track and follow up on requests.

4. Support Infrastructure 

Providing support and leadership to the IMIT team.

  • Administrative Assistant - Ensure the administrative needs of the IMIT department are met, including timekeeping.
  • MPI Clerk - Responsible for reducing the amount of duplicate and incomplete records in the Interior Health patient database.
