As Interior Health is smoke-free at all its hospitals, smoking cessation services are also available at several hospitals to help you cope before and/or during your stay.
While the environment may vary slightly between the different hospitals, we have provided some basic information about:
Protect yourself and others from getting infections by using good hand washing habits: it is very important that you clean your hands often and completely. Wash your hands after using the washroom and before eating. You may also use the alcohol-based liquid/foam hand sanitizers available on each unit. You can also ask your caregivers if they have cleaned their hands before providing you with care.
