Drinking Water Supply Systems

drinking_water_picInterior Health's Health Protection role in the Drinking Water Supply System is two-fold:

  • Support water suppliers in meeting their obligations
  • Audit for accountability

The Drinking Water Protection Act requires that a water supplier give public notification regarding threats to drinking water quality. For emergency and current, up to the minute information, please contact the water system supplier.

Interior Health provides a list of water system notifications as information only.
It is linked to a live database and is updated as soon as information is changed in our software. Not every water supply system is listed with Interior Health and therefore this inventory is not wholly inclusive.

Complaints about drinking water follow the general Health Protection complaints policy. See our pdf icon small complaints policy handout that describes how to submit a complaint. The pdf icon small Public Complaint Form can be used to document your concern. Our pdf icon small decision review handout explains what to do if you disagree with a decision made by our staff.
