Health Connections
... Linking Communities & Healthcare
Do you live in a rural community and need to travel to see a specialist, but you don’t have a car? Are you uncomfortable driving on winter roads? Are you elderly and don’t have a family member or neighbour that can take you to your appointment?
Interior Health recognizes that many people in rural areas may need assistance in accessing health services, and is committed to designing solutions to meet patient transportation needs.
Health Connections is a partnership between Interior Health, regional districts, municipalities, BC Transit and local not-for-profit societies that expands transportation routes and increase patient access to non-emergency medical appointments.
Each Health Service Area offers its own combination of transportation options based on available resources and community needs.
Getting to a medical appointment in your Health Service Area:
When scheduling your next appointment, let booking staff know that you will be using one of the Health Connections transportation options. You can then work together to make sure your appointment coincides with your travel requirements where possible.
Note: Health Connections transportation is offered to and from locations only within your Health Service Area. For those seeking regular medical treatment outside their area of residence, Hope Air is a national charitable organization that provides flights within Interior Health and BC.
