  • Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is a tertiary hospital and referral center with 349 beds, a full range of services, an adjacent cancer centre, a new state-of-the-art Centennial Building, and is the primary acute care facility in region. The new expansion that opened in May 2012 boasts a total of 360,000 square feet, an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, larger operating rooms and a rooftop helipad. Future expansion plans are to continue the facility developments with the addition of the new Interior Health and Surgical Center, which will include the Cardiac Revascularization Center.

    KGH has several surgical services that provide regional care that includes General Surgery, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Plastics, and Neurosurgery. Our facility is also the primary site for the UBC Southern Medical Program, turning KGH into a true teaching hospital. As such, this position will include instructing opportunities to residents and students in clinical environments.

  • General Internal Medicine (GIM) Academic Practice and Leadership Opportunity: Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is seeking General Internists to join a new medical teaching service at one of BC’s most progressive hospitals, in partnership with the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine and its Southern Medical Program (SMP). Located in the heart of the Okanagan, in Southern British Columbia, KGH is a 350 bed state-of-the art tertiary centre offering a full range of clinical services and a campus that includes the recently opened brand-new Emergency Department, a new ambulatory care facility, and an innovative Heart and Surgical Centre, currently under construction.
    Clinical: As a member of the Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care on the hospital’s 25-bed Clinical Teaching Unit where your presence will ensure that undergraduate students and residents have effective, stimulating learning opportunities. Clinical duties also include inpatient and Emergency Department consultation, as well as to the Rapid Access Medical Assessment Clinic.
    Education: Educational responsibilities encompass bedside and office teaching, lecturing, clinical skills training and curriculum development.
    Leadership: Opportunities are available as GIM Division Head, CTU Director, Internal Medicine Clerkship or Postgraduate Site Program Director.

Qualifications include an MD degree or equivalent, RCPSC Fellowship in Internal Medicine and eligibility for full licensure in the province of British Columbia.

Call Schedule:
