Outpatient Cancer Care Surveys

A commitment to excellence

In 2012, British Columbia undertook a survey of cancer care outpatients at 50 cancer care facilities to ask for feedback about their experiences with the care and services they received as outpatients. The results have assisted Interior Health, other health authorities, and the Ministry in identifying where our strengths are and in making improvements where needed.

Across IH, the results were very positive as 97.1 per cent of participants responded favourably in terms of overall care received – an increase over our 96.7 per cent overall score in 2005/06.

Surveys were sent to:

  • All living patients who received radiation therapy or IV chemotherapy
  • Random sample of patients who received non-IV treatments for cancer or blood disorder diagnosis
  • B.C. patients only
  • Invasive cases only
  • Patients aged > 18 at date of diagnosis
  • Patients on active OP treatment between June 15, 2012 and December 15, 2012
