Interior Health promotes the development of skilled practitioners/workers in all clinical and non clinical areas, through collaboration and partnerships with educational institutions and their students. Interior Health is committed to offering students quality practice educational opportunities.

Prior to placement

Prior to entering an Interior Health facility for a practice education experience all students and faculty must;

  1. A current affiliation agreement between the educational institution and Interior Health is required prior to submitting a request. Placement requests must come from the placement coordinator at the educational institution.
  2. Ensure an IH External User Access Agreement or a Confidentiality agreement has been completed
  3. Read the Student Placement Policy (AU 1100)
  4. Complete the Student Practice Education Core Orientation (SPECO) available on the Course Catalogue Registration System (CCRS). The instructions are below.
  5. Print and complete the Orientation Checklist and return it to your Placement Coordinator. You must register with SPECO before you can access this form.

CCRS instructions

  • Access Student Practice Core Orientation (SPECO) in the CCRS registration system.
  • Select the “Start Course” button.
  • Sign in to the CCRS.
    • If you already have an account on the CCRS, log in with your current username and password.
    • New users, select the new user option to create a profile.
    • Enter the required information including school email address (not a personal email address).  If you do not have a school email address inform your school so a request for registration can be sent to the Health Authority.
    • Check your email to confirm your registration.
  • Update your profile to add your school (facility field) and program (department field).
  • Complete the learning module and additional prerequisites – you can complete the program in more than one sitting. If you leave the system without completing, bookmark the page you left off, and return to that bookmarked page later.
    • Print your certificates of completion as you work through the orientation so you may submit copies of these documents with your orientation checklist to your school. Retain copies for your personal records.
  • At your assigned time, proceed to your Health Authority site for additional site specific orientation.
