Single story multi-level personal care facility built in 1995. Located in West Kelowna, grounds are unfenced.
Sumac Unit has 39 complex care beds (19 of these are private rooms) and 1 respite (also private). Residents have access to a secure courtyard, and share access to a second courtyard with Spartan Unit; this courtyard features a lovely water feature called a “pondless fountain.” Spartan unit has 44 complex care beds, 24 of these are private rooms, 4 of which have bariatric capacity and Spartan residents have their own secure enclosed courtyard besides the one they share with Sumac residents.

Both units of 84 residents share a common dining room.

McIntosh unit (CBDU) is a specialized psychogeriatric secure environment with 20 beds (all private). CBDU (Chronic Behaviour Disorder Unit) features flexible care and routines, and the residents have access to their own secure enclosed courtyard and dining area.

Access:

Access to subsidized long-term care is through an assessment by Interior Health staff. For more information on subsidized long-term care services, contact the Home Health office nearest you.​

Building Amenities: Hairdresser, bathing rooms, central dining room, living and activity areas, unique landscaped grounds, picturesque courtyards, walkways, a covered patio for outdoor barbeques, personal laundry services and a volunteer-run gift and tuck shop.

Philosophy of Care:

Our resident-centred philosophy is designed to support residents’ choices, help people function at their highest level and provide the best quality of life possible.

Palliative care and end-of-life services, including  eligibility assessment and the provision of medical assistance in dying (MAiD), are available at this care home.

Cost:

Monthly rate is up to 80 per cent of client’s after tax income, with minimum and maximum rates set by the Ministry of Health Services. More information.​

Special Recreation: Daily social and liesure programing utilizing the Eden philosophy of care.  Occasional bus tours.
Accessibility: Level entry for wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
Motorized Scooter Policy: No motorized scooters permitted.  Manual wheelchairs preferred (electric wheelchairs restricted) due to philosophy of maintaining resident mobility and safety.
