February 14, 2018 update:

Interior Health has declared an end to the meningococcal disease outbreak in the Okanagan for 15-19 year olds.

Since the outbreak is now declared over, people in grades 11 and older will no longer qualify for free vaccine. All grade 9 students in BC are offered free Meningococcal Quadrivalent vaccine as part of a routine school immunizations that began in 2016.

Current immunization stats

As of February 13, 2018:

  • 14,503 individuals immunized
  • 68.3% of target population (15-19 years old) immunized
