Students spend more time in school than in almost any other environment, and schools have a powerful influence on a student's eating behaviours. It is important to take this opportunity to help students develop healthy, lifelong eating habits.
Students are more likely to make healthy choices if:
healthy food is available and affordable
nutrition is part of school classes
healthy eating guidelines exist so schools will role model nutritious foods in classroom rewards, fundraising, school food sales, and at special events
Implementing the BC School Food Guidelines (2013)
Have questions about the guidelines? Email or call 8-1-1 and ask to speak to a registered dietitian.

As a step towards reconciliation, Interior Health acknowledges the land that we live, work, and play on as the traditional territories of the Dakelh Dene, Ktunaxa, Nlaka’pamux, Secwepemc, St’at’imc, Syilx and Tsilhqot’in peoples. It is with humility that we continue to strengthen our relationships with the First Nation, Métis, and Inuit peoples of the interior.
