‚ÄčLab procedures and information specific to Point-of-Care Testing

All Point-of-Care Testing (POCT), near-patient testing, or in vitro testing of patient specimens performed by IH healthcare workers outside of the central laboratory, must meet the same standards as is required in the lab and as such must adhere to the IH POCT Policy.  POCT users must meet training and competency requirements prior to performing patient testing.

Oversight for Point-of-Care Testing is provided by the Laboratory Medical Director in conjunction with the IH POCT Advisory Committee.  Requests for new or replacement POCT tests or analyzers in each care area must be made by completing the IH POCT Request Form.  The request must be evaluated and approved by this committee prior to purchasing any POCT kits or equipment.

Contact the IH Lab POCT Coordinator at 250-351-5767 for more information or email the Point-of-Care-Testing Department via the Contact Us form. Please select Laboratory from the drop-down list.
