Resources for physicians and providers

We recognize that helping patients/clients with behavior change is a challenge many health professionals face everyday. Keeping up-to-date with tobacco-specific information can also be difficult, especially in a busy practice.

Luckily, there are more supports in BC than ever before. Check out the links below for online and in-person cessation training opportunities, and information about quit-smoking medication and support for British Columbians.

Did you know?

  • Most tobacco users want to quit, but may need additional support to be successful.
  • Tobacco users expect their health care provider to ask them about tobacco.
  • Quitnow services provides free tobacco cessation support by phone, text, online and chat, 24/7.
  • Financial assistance for quit smoking medications is available through the BC Smoking Cessation Program. Free nicotine replacement products (patch, gum, lozenges or inhaler) or coverage for prescription medications bupropion (Zyban) or varenicline (Champix).
