Cranbrook
Cranbrook is a thriving city with a population of about 20,000 and a surrounding catchment population of approximately 26,000.
Cranbrook is located in the middle of the broad Rocky Mountain Trench, on the west side of the Kootenay River, and boasts more sunshine than anywhere else in British Columbia. The stunning surroundings and idyllic climate present perfect conditions for outdoor activities such as horse riding, hiking and biking or a relaxing afternoon boating on the lake. The winter brings great opportunities for alpine skiing at Kimberley Alpine Resort just a short 30 km drive away or cross country skiing which starts right at the Cranbrook city limits. Snowmobiling is a popular activity with the locals and there is an almost limitless network of trails to discover and explore.
Cranbrook is home to the main campus of the College of the Rockies, which has over 2,500 full and part-time students from over 21 countries. There are seven elementary schools and two middle schools that feed into the city's high school: Mount Baker Secondary School, home to approximately 1,500 students.
Forestry, mining, manufacturing, tourism, trade, service and transportation make up the economic backbone of the East Kootenay region.
Cranbrook is a railway town, a mill town, a commercial centre, and an island in a sea of golf courses. It has a modern theatre and a lively arts community, a professional hockey team, a remarkable railway museum and an abundance of outdoor activities, there really is something for everyone.
Drive times to major centres are approximately 4.5 hours to Calgary (403 km), 8 hours to Kelowna (526 km), 1 hour to Creston (107 km). and 3.5 hours to Spokane, WA (306 km).  Cranbrook's airport runs multiple flights to Calgary and Vancouver daily.

East Kootenay Regional Hospital is the referral center for a large geographic area along the Rocky Mountains with a catchment area of ~80,000.

This new position will allow you to practice all modalities with a variety of non-vascular interventional procedures. Peripheral hospitals are linked by PACS to local regional center. Special consideration will be given to applicants who are qualified (or eligible) to read Echocardiography and/or Nuclear Medicine but these are not a requirement. Candidates should FRCPC certified or qualified to sit the Canadian Radiology Fellowship examinations.

EKRH underwent a major renovation in 2006 primarily for ER, Diagnostic Imaging, Ambulatory Care and a new main entrance. We underwent another major renovation in 2016 for a complete electrical upgrade and a new, long awaited, state of the art ICU next to Radiology. Coming by spring/summer 2018, the current mobile part-time MRI is scheduled to be replaced by a fixed magnet. MRI funding for expanded patient access will be in place at that time.
