Take a Breath: Teen Voices on Tobacco, Cannabis & Vaping
Teens across the Interior Health region are invited to share their view on the impacts of tobacco, cannabis use and vaping through an original artwork. View the winning entries on this page!
You can participate if you are:
- Under 19 years of age
- Enrolled in a middle or secondary school program
- Living in the Interior Health Region
Your poster, illustration or infographic must match one of the following themes:
- Important facts about smoking tobacco, cannabis and/or vaping products
- Tobacco and vaping companies’ strategies to promote use
- Impact of smoking tobacco or cannabis and/or vaping on my life
- Environmental impact of smoking/tobacco and vaping
- The importance of ceremonial tobacco for Indigenous traditions, and how it differs from everyday (commercial) tobacco use (must identify as Indigenous to submit entry to this theme)
- Read the Contest rules to make sure your entry will be valid. Please note: The winning posters will be professionally printed and the successful artists will receive a copy. Artists retain the copyright to their work but agree that it may be used by Interior Health in the promotion of national, regional, and local smoking/tobacco and vaping awareness campaigns, and be featured in schools, community settings, and on Interior Health’s social media platforms, website, and in hospitals and health-care centres.
- Make an original poster, illustration or an infographic that match one of the contest themes.
- Make sure your final artwork are no more than one page in length, between 8.5 x 11 and 11 x 17 inches in size. All art submitted must be original and created by the person making the submission.
- Fill out the entry form. Artists may submit one entry per contest theme.
- Submit your artwork and entry form in one of two ways:

A panel of peer judges will select a winning poster for each of the five themes based on scientific content, impact and persuasiveness, creativity, and presentation of the artwork. The successful artists will be awarded $150 in the form of a gift card of their choosing.
