This family-centered program is held twice a week for ten weeks in Kamloops. It is supported by a multidisciplinary team that helps families to identify and problem-solve around their own unique challenges to healthy eating and active living. Each week, families learn about different topics:
In addition, families take part in fun activities at the Kamloops Community YMCA-YWCA. By setting their own goals around the changes that each family member chooses, parents and child/teen improve their overall health and well-being.

Is a referral required?All program referrals must come through a family physician. Physicians and NPs only fill out a referral form.
Are there eligibility requirements?Yes. Children between 6-17 years of age with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 97% (children with BMI between 85-97% will be considered if other medical conditions are present). Both parents and children must be prepared to make changes and attend on a regular basis.
