Mpox (Monkeypox) Immunizations
We're undertaking a focused immunization strategy for people at the highest risk for mpox (monkeypox). Pre-exposure immunization will be offered for this group of people.

Our immunization strategy
Experience of other jurisdictions shows this pre-exposure prophylaxis and robust case and contact tracing for any cases in Interior Health are the keys tactics that can reduce the transmission and severe illness from mpox (monkeypox).
IH Public Health is following federal and provincial guidance on the use of vaccine to protect those at highest risk of contracting mpox (monkeypox).
The vaccine is not recommended for the general public.
We are working closely with community partners on a focused vaccine campaign: providing immunizations by appointment.
