Adult Immunizations
Learn what vaccines are recommended in adulthood.

Getting vaccinated as an adult
Many vaccines are recommended for adults, some of which are given free. All adults in British Columbia can get a booster of tetanus and diphtheria vaccine every ten years.
If you missed your basic series of vaccines in childhood, or depending on your health, age and other risk factors, you may also be able to get more free vaccines to protect against harmful diseases.
Where adults can get vaccinated
- Public Health Centres
- Family physicians
- Nurse practitioners
- Certified pharmacists
- Private providers such as travel vaccination clinics
Travel Immunizations
If you plan on travelling, it’s important to get the recommended or required immunizations before you go.
Respiratory Illness
The most effective way to prevent the spread of influenza is by getting the influenza vaccine, staying home when sick, and washing your hands regularly.
Monkeypox Immunizations
We're undertaking a focused immunization strategy for people at the highest risk for monkeypox. Pre-exposure immunization will be offered for this group of people.
RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) Vaccine
The province of B.C. has not yet introduced a publicly funded RSV vaccine program. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist to determine if the vaccine is recommended for you, and reach out to community pharmacies to learn how to get it.
