Clinical Data Exchange Service Overview
Do you want to send and receive clinical documents electronically, securely, and efficiently? The Clinical Data Exchange (CDX) Service is a free health information exchange available to private practice and select health authority teams in Interior Health and Northern Health. Subscribers can receive documents from health authorities and exchange documents between different Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Secure – CDX follows industry standard best practices and is compliant with all provincial and federal privacy legislation
- Efficient – Send and receive documents electronically from your EMR faster than fax. Enhance your clinical workflows and patient/practice management.
- Reliable – The service is monitored by a dedicated team, meaning fewer lost patient documents
- Automatic Matching – Your EMR can automatically match incoming documents to the correct patient and create or update patient records with CDX
- Collaboration – Seamlessly share multiple clinical documents to support team-based care
- Document Types – CDX supports a growing list of results distributed from health authorities and documents that can be exchanged between clinics
- Free – There are no additional costs for signing up and using CDX
- Health authority results: CDX electronically distributes laboratory results, medical imaging, and other transcribed reports from Interior and Northern Health Authorities to clinic EMRs.
- Clinic to clinic documents: Clinics subscribed to CDX and using supported EMRs may send and receive other types of clinical documents such as consults or referral notes, information requests, notes, and more to other clinics on the network.
