Health services and recreational activities for seniors and people with disabilities

Adult Day Services are supportive community programs for people at risk of losing their independence. Adult Day Services are designed to help individuals to remain at home while supporting caregivers by providing a range of health, personal, social and recreational services in a safe and caring environment.

What services are available?

While there are some variation in the services provided in Adult Day Services across Interior Health depending upon location, some examples include:

  • Health Monitoring such as physical assessments, blood pressure, nutrition, pain, personal care concerns
  • Supporting Caregivers wellbeing  by providing supportive programs specific to caregiver education, support, connecting community resources and respite care
  • Purposeful therapeutic social and recreational programs

Am I eligible?

To be eligible, you must meet the eligibility requirements for receiving Home and Community Care services.   The number of days you can attend this program is based upon service availability and your personal needs. You can attend a day program and receive other services such as home support at the same time.

Is there a cost?

A user fee of up to $10.00 per day will be charged to cover costs for supplies, transportation and meals.

How do I access this service?

Most larger communities offer Adult Day Services as a part of Home and Community Care programming. Services may not be available in your community, please contact your local Home and Community Care office.
