Neurodiagnostics
Learn about the neurodiagnostic services we provide that help in diagnosing various nervous system conditions and sleep disorders.
Neurodiagnostics
Specialists use Neurodiagnostic Services (Electrodiagnostics) equipment to perform a number of procedures such as using electrodes (sensors) to record electrical activity of the brain, nerves and spinal cord. Some procedures use breathing belts, heart and oxygen sensors.
Neurodiagnostic services include:
- Electroencephalography (EEG)
- Visual Evoked Potential (VEP)
- Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER)
- Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SEP)
- Electroretinogram (ERG)
- Electro-oculogram (EOG)
- Videonystagmogram (VNG)
- Polysomnogram (PSG)
- Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT)
- Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) and Electromyography (EMG)
Purpose
Electroneurophysiology (ENPY) technologists and specialized doctors (Neurologists, Physiatrists, Ear Nose and Throat {ENT}s, Respiratory) work together to help collect information, interpret data, diagnose, observe, consult and treat various nervous system and sleep-related medical conditions.
Results
All tests are interpreted by a physician who is specialized in the particular procedure. A report will be sent to your referring physician, family doctor and any other physicians or nurse practitioners requiring copies. Reports are generally available in about two weeks. The technologist cannot discuss your test results.
