About Elkford Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC)

The Elkford Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC), located at the Elkford Health Centre, provides team-based care for non-emergency health concerns to individuals in Elkford and surrounding communities.

If you have a health emergency that requires immediate care, call 911 or present at the Sparwood or Fernie emergency department.

Care at the Elkford UPCC is available for concerns such as:

  • Minor injuries
  • Sprains and strains
  • Minor infections (e.g., UTI)
  • Mild fever
  • Minor cuts, wounds, or skin conditions
  • Suture removal, wart removal, ear flush
  • STI treatment

The health-care team is available, virtually or in-person, to provide care for your health issues. Patients may see one or more of the following health professionals depending on your care needs:

  • Family physician (in-person or virtual)
  • Nurse practitioner (in-person or virtual)
  • Physiotherapist
  • Registered nurse
  • Social worker

If you need to access health-care services at the UPCC, please note that:

To seek care at the Elkford UPCC, patients can choose to call 250-865-2247 or walk-in to be assessed by a registered nurse. The registered nurse will ask about your health-care concern and determine:

  • Your health-care needs
  • Urgency of care needs
  • Most appropriate health-care team members or services for your needs (this may include being directed to alternative services as appropriate)

The Elkford UPCC provides care for people based on urgency; people who are the sickest or have highest care needs are seen the quickest.
