As COVID-19 vaccination rates continue to increase, Interior Health plans to streamline its immunization campaign with new clinic locations. Over the coming weeks, the COVID-19 vaccine appointments will move from mass immunization clinics to pharmacies and IH health centres. 

Interior Health is taking a phased approach to resume services that were temporarily paused last month due to COVID-19. The service adjustments, announced Jan. 18, were implemented to preserve safe and reliable access to patient care across the Interior region. 

Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is celebrating the newest cohort of nursing graduates successfully recruited to work at RIH.

Summerland residents are advised the Summerland Health Centre Outpatient Laboratory, located at 12815 Atkinson Road, will be reopening this week. Beginning Feb. 3, 2022, the laboratory will be open two-days per week, on Mondays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for walk-in service only. Laboratory service at the Health Centre is prioritized for vulnerable patients, people who are unable to travel, or for urgent collections at this time. Walk-in service and appointments are also available at nearby locations in Penticton and Peachland.

In partnership with the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc, the Secwépemc Health Caucus, the Two Rivers Métis Society and the RIH Foundation, Interior Health is pleased to announce Indigenous artist Chris Bose as the lead artist to design the ‘cultural wall’ in the new Phil & Jennie Gaglardi Tower at Royal Inland Hospital.

Local pediatricians and Interior Health are encouraging families to set a goal this winter: get everyone in your household age five and over vaccinated before Family Day (Feb. 21). 

Residents are advised that plans to reduce inpatient services temporarily at the Invermere and District Hospital are no longer proceeding.

Residents are advised that Interior Health is temporarily adjusting emergency department hours at the Ashcroft Community Health Centre, effective Friday, Jan. 21, 2022.

Barriere residents are advised that physician services remain open at the Barriere and District Health Centre. COVID-19 testing and immunization clinics are also continuing.
