Interior Health is taking proactive measures to protect patients, clients, residents and staff from the Christie Mountain fire.

Interior Health is working closely with the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, the City of Penticton and the BC Wildfire Service to support people affected by the Mount Christie wildfire.

Three staff members of the Okanagan Correctional Centre (OCC) in the Oliver area have tested positive for COVID-19.

Recent testing of individuals has allowed Interior Health (IH) to identify an additional date for people who may have been at the Cactus Club on Water Street and potentially exposed to COVID-19.

With the number of new cases of COVID-19 stabilizing again in Kelowna, Interior Health is suspending the temporary testing site located at their Community Health Services Centre, effective today.

Interior Health, the Ministry of the Environment and the First Nations Health Authority are working with the City of Salmon Arm, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, and Shuswap Watershed Council to monitor a large algal bloom that has filled most of the Salmon Arm of Shuswap Lake.

As part of the ongoing investigations, six cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed among employees at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH). IH’s investigation indicates these cases are connected to the cluster of cases in the community.

Interior Health is pleased to confirm that outreach ophthalmology clinic services at Kootenay Lake Hospital will start on July 15, 2020.
