An echocardiogram (Echo) uses sound waves (ultrasound) to create a picture or image of your heart. These detailed pictures of your heart are taken to show the shape, texture and movement of your heart muscle and heart valves, as well as the size of your heart chambers and how well your heart muscle is working.

There are different types of echocardiograms that may be done. Please confirm the test you are having with your Health-Care Provider as they may be done in different locations and have different instructions to prepare for the test.
