Provides acute care clinical respiratory therapy support that may include but are not limited to: airway management; conduct tests to measure lung function; training in the use of special breathing equipment and/or techniques for administering prescription medication or oxygen; training to manage asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or to quit smoking; responding to cardiopulmonary resuscitations (code blue) and traumas; management of life support in Intensive Care Units (Adult and Neonatal). Respiratory Therapists work as part of the healthcare team responsible for the treatment and care of adults, pediatrics and infants with a variety of cardio-respiratory illnesses and disabilities.
