Diane Jules joined the Interior Health Board of Directors in January 2015. Over four terms and eight years, she has brought her insight, experience and leadership to the decisions facing Interior Health. Diane is a member of the Secwépemc Nation, Adams Lake Band and has served her Nation and community throughout the years in a number of roles.
While on Band Council, Diane oversaw the health portfolio for two years which gave her insight into health-care administration and the issues First Nations people were having within the health system. When she was approached to join the IH Board, Diane was happy to serve. “It’s been an exciting time to be involved in health,” she says. “One of my mottos in life is to take advantage of every opportunity that comes along.”

Serving as president of the Sexqéltkemc Ltd. Partnership for over 10 years, Diane also served five terms as an elected Band Councillor for Adams Lake Indian Band and as President of Adams Lake Band Development Corporation. She was an integral part of the First Nation Education Council for school districts 73 and 83 for close to 10 years and served as vice president of the Secwépemc Child and Family Service Board. She was also the first Aboriginal person to serve as a trustee on the Kamloops school board.
Diane is a graduate of Cariboo College and sat on their board during the transition to Thompson Rivers University (TRU). While serving on the TRU Board, Diane was part of planning committees for the First Nations library and the student housing tower.
It is important to have our voices at the table.
“The boardroom table has changed quite a bit over the years,” says Diane. “The government has realized they need diversity on their boards and I’m grateful that after my term ends, that seat is there for another Aboriginal person at the table.”
