Meet Rob Hurry, external recruiter, RNs, LPNs and HCAs (Central Okanagan)
Nestled at the northern tip of Kalamalka Lake in the North Okanagan area is the cozy community of Coldstream. Just a short five-minute drive from Vernon, Coldstream combines the beauty of lakeside living with the ease of access to city amenities. It's a place where stunning views merge with small town warmth, and a spot that has meant a lot to Rob since he was a kid.

Home Is where the heart Is
It's here where familiarity thrives, and establishing meaningful connections is effortless—a testament to the unmatched appeal of calling the Okanagan home. For these reasons, as Rob transitioned into adulthood and began building a family of his own, the decision to remain in the area was simple.
For Rob, one of the most captivating aspects of the region is its abundance of outdoor activities. As the temperatures rise, Rob and his loved ones can be found relishing the outdoors. You'll likely find him exploring trails, teeing off at a local golf course, boating on one of the area’s vast lakes or simply lounging poolside with a refreshing beverage in hand. Through his endeavors, Rob lives by the motto, "enjoy the moment," embracing gratitude as a guiding principle in his daily life.

Rob's journey in recruitment
Rob embarked on his career journey as a recruiter five years ago, seamlessly transitioning from his previous role in human resources. The suggestion came from his wife, who recognized the perfect alignment between Rob's personality and the qualities needed for a recruiter role: passionate, empathetic and results driven. Rob considers himself fortunate for landing a career he genuinely loves.
Since joining Interior Health in 2021, Rob has relished every moment of his work in health-care recruitment. Each day brings fresh challenges and opportunities, as he collaborates with a diverse range of candidates, striving to match talent with opportunity.

Passion drives success
Rob's journey in recruitment is a testament to his unwavering commitment to efficiency and excellence. From sourcing and screening candidates, to working on innovative recruitment projects, his dedication shines through at every step. Drawing from his own recruitment experience within IH, Rob not only highlights the organization's dedication to transparency and exceptional candidate experiences, but also sets the bar for recruitment excellence in the health-care sector.
Beyond sourcing candidates to fill our vacant positions, Rob finds immense joy in guiding the incumbents through the recruitment journey. Whether it's navigating the intricacies of international recruitment or filling specialized roles, his dedication to finding the perfect candidates is unparalleled. His commitment to delivering exceptional results ensures a seamless experience for all parties involved in the hiring process.

For me the most rewarding part of this role is sourcing a candidate for a hard-to-fill role, working with them as they move through the recruitment process, and finally making the hire that impacts the organization. That's what it’s all about
Tips for job seekers
When searching for candidates, Rob emphasizes the importance of compassion and care as essential qualities he looks for. These qualities are not only essential for success in the health-care field, but also align with IH's core values of integrity and service excellence. Rob understands that by prioritizing these qualities in candidates, the organization can continue to uphold its commitment to delivering exceptional care to the community.
For those aspiring to start their career in health care, his best advice is to begin now. The field is brimming with opportunities across a diverse range of specialties. You have the chance to take charge of your career path and gradually grow into the role you've always envisioned. The possibilities are endless.
