Favourite Quote / Advice to live by: Live, laugh, love.
Since Nicole Fournier was a young girl, she always wanted to be a nurse. She was born and raised on the coast, and has been in Kelowna for over 20 years.
She became a health care assistant (HCA) with the plan of getting her start in nursing and eventually become a wound care nurse. However, Nicole found her work as a HCA enjoyable.
In fact, when asked her proudest moment from her 11-years-and-counting career with Interior Health, she answered “becoming a care aide.”

Nicole said her workday is a little different from a typical HCA’s. She focuses on bathing residents at Three Links Manor. She bathes five people before 11:30 a.m., and then after a break she’s on the floor helping wherever she can: laying people down, changing people and stocking tub rooms.

I love caring for and helping people. Sometimes you become close to residents… I mainly enjoy the one-on-one time with residents.
In all of Nicole’s interactions with residents, she has met people who have lived fascinating lives.
“One of the most interesting stories I have was meeting a gentleman who was a pilot and flew a 747,” Nicole said. “He told me all the different places he had been to and what his favourite places were to fly to. There are so many stories I have heard over the last 11 years as a care aide, so it’s hard to really just pick one.”
Discover her passions outside of work

When Nicole isn’t making a difference as a HCA, you’ll find her enjoying quality family time. She said she’s easygoing, family-orientated and loves nature
“I love spending time outside and up in the bush, doing anything with my daughter, Aubree-Joy, and my hubby,” Nicole said. “Anything outside is fun for me: we love camping, fishing, hunting – my daughter loves the water park. Even just going for walks when the weather is cooler.”

My friends are part of my family and my family is everything to me.
