Interior Health responds to Bald Range wildfire

Interior Health (IH) is responding to the potential for fire-related impacts to health facilities and clients in the community of Summerland.

IH is working to relocate 48 residents from the Dr. Andrew Pavillion and is working with our contracted partner Retirement Concepts to relocate 190 residents from Summerland Seniors Village, to alternate locations away from the affected area.

Interior Health is contacting families directly with updates. Families will be informed of their loved one’s temporary location, and updates provided once all relocations have been completed.

Anyone requiring emergency care should proceed to the Penticton Regional Hospital as needed. Interior Health is also supporting community clients so they continue to have access to the services they need.

This is an evolving situation, and we are working closely with municipalities, regional districts, and the BC Wildfire Service to ensure precautions are underway to protect patients, clients, and individuals in long-term care.
