UPDATE: Interior Health response to Bald Range wildfire

Interior Health (IH) has opened a dedicated call centre for families seeking updates on evacuated residents from Dr. Andrew Pavillion and Summerland Seniors Village.

Families can now call 1-833-971-5045 for information about their loved ones.

Call centre hours:

  • Saturday/Sunday – 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Monday - Friday – 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

IH evacuated 48 residents from the Dr. Andrew Pavillion and supported our contracted partner, West Coast Senior Housing Management, to relocate 190 residents from Summerland Seniors Village on Aug. 8 to alternate locations away from the affected area.

Wherever possible, IH has contacted families directly with updates to share their loved one’s temporary location. The call centre is an additional tool for families who could not be reached directly. Interior Health is also supporting community, and mental health and substance use clients, so they continue to have access to the services they need. Additional community health care providers have been deployed to the Emergency Support Services centres in Penticton and Kelowna to triage evacuees who need additional care support.

People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (i.e., chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 911 or visit the Penticton Regional Hospital Emergency Department.

IH is working closely with municipalities, regional districts, Indigenous partners, and the BC Wildfire Service to keep all individuals safe who are in care.

Those requiring support during this crisis are encouraged to call the BC Crisis Line at 310-6789, KUU-US Indigenous Crisis Services at 1-800-588-8717, or MNBC Métis Crisis Line at 1-833-638-4722.

Interior Health continues to monitor wildfire activity across the region and maintains active evacuation planning for clients and facilities located in close proximity to locations with evacuation alerts and orders in place across the IH region.
