When you walk into a hospital, you may be accustomed to seeing hand sanitizer and medical masks at the entrances.
But did you know a lot more that happens behind the scenes to keep our health-care facilities safe from viruses like COVID-19 and norovirus, and harmful bacteria that causes infections like c. difficile?
Merritt and area residents are advised of temporary changes to emergency department hours at Nicola Valley Hospital due to limited nursing staffing availability.
From 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 to 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, emergency department services will be unavailable and patients can access care at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
During this time, all other inpatient services will continue as normal at Nicola Valley Hospital.
In June 2023, Kelowna wife and mom of three Trixie Sylvester discovered she had breast cancer after a regularly scheduled mammogram. Young people are the experts when it comes to understanding why youth use tobacco and vape, and how smoking/tobacco and vaping impacts them and their friends, family, school and community – it’s important to hear their voices and views.

Emergency services will be unavailable from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14. Patients can access care at Penticton Regional Hospital during this time.
All other inpatient services will continue as normal at South Okanagan General Hospital.
