About Blue River Health Centre

Blue River Health Centre offers a range of health-care services on-site, provided by a remote certified registered nurse who can collaborate and link patients with appropriate supports such as physicians, nurse practitioners and pharmacy.

Services offered include:

  • Remote Nursing Assessments, Diagnostics & Treatments: 
    • First Aid
    • Nursing assessments and health histories taking
    • Vital sign checks (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose level, weight)
    • Minor eye and ear infections
    • Sore throats
    • Adult bronchitis
    • Diarrhea, constipation, and minor stomach issues
    • Simple urinary tract infections
    • Minor skin and wound care
  • Community & Public Health Services
    • Contraceptive care and sexually transmitted infection care
    • Medication review and support
    • COVID-19/Influenza (flu) clinics
    • Adult immunizations – Tetanus and diphtheria (Td), measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), pneumonia, influenza
    • Telehealth services
    • Care coordination, program collaborations, and health systems navigation

Hours for Blue River Health Centre

Tuesday 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Wednesday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Emergency Services 
Access emergency services by calling 911 or travelling to Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital in Clearwater. Service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Community Paramedics

For non-emergency medical needs that still require professional attention, please call 250-674-3185 to speak with a community paramedic. 

Community paramedics can: 

  • Come to your home for regularly scheduled visits
  • Check in with you about your medications
  • Support you in managing your health so you can continue to live at home safely 
  • Help you stay connected with your family doctor or Nurse Practitioner 
  • Look for fall hazards in your home, and suggest ways of correcting them
  • Connect you to health-care resources when you need additional help 
  • Listen to you when you have concerns about your health and work to get you the assistance you need

For questions and appointments, please call 250-673-8311 during clinic hours. You can also leave a message any time, and a team member will return your call.
Walk-ins are welcome.

Is the clinic accessible by public transit?

No

Is free parking available?

Yes

How do I access pharmacy services?

Pharmacy services are available at Pharmasave in Clearwater or or I.D.A. in Valemount. 

How do I access home and community care?

While we do not offer these services at the Blue River Health Centre, we can refer you to home health, home support and community care in Clearwater. 

Can I access family doctor or nurse practitioner services in Blue River?

While we do not have a family physician / nurse practitioner onsite, our remote certified RN can provide care in consultation with family physicians / nurse practitioners and link you with appropriate supports. 

How do you book a lab appointment?

For locations that have appointment booking as an option, book your Lab Test and ECG online at www.labonlinebooking.ca. If you're unable to make a booking online, please call the Digital Health Support Desk to book at 1-844-870-4756 (Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. PST; Saturday-Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST; excluding STAT Holidays).
