Medical Affairs
Results = Leadership x Culture x People
Our medical leadership focuses on engagement, relationship building, capacity building through distributed leadership, dyad leadership, and leadership development. Led by the VP of Medicine, IH medical leadership consists of Executive Medical Directors, Senior Medical Directors, Chiefs of Staff and Department Heads, as well as Clinical Network/Program Medical Directors.
The Physician Compensation team provides leadership, advice and support for contract development, negotiation, management and renewals for various physician contracts: clinical service, sessions, Medical On-Call Assistance Program (MOCAP), administration, stipends and consulting. Processes physician payments for services related to contracts, payments under rural incentive programs (eg. rural continuing medical education/RCME) and claims (eg. meetings, travel, recruitment, locum expenses).
The Medical Staff Contracts (MSC) team collaborates with medical and clinical operational leaders on local and IH wide initiatives to plan, design and implement sustainable service delivery models and ensure alignment with the appropriate medical staff compensation model. The MSC team facilitates medical staff contract development, negotiation, implementation and management of medical staff contracts between IH, physicians, and Ministry of Health and Doctors of BC to maximize value of investment in physician services and support the delivery of patient and family centered high quality care.
Contact MSC@interiorhealth.ca for questions regarding medical staff compensation models.
Medical Administrative Assistants (MAAs) provide the site medical leaders with confidential administrative support functions within the Chief of Staff office including local medical advisory committee meeting support. MAAs are the point of contact for medical staff.
In British Columbia, medical quality is the shared responsibility of many partners, including health authorities, government, regulatory colleges, professional associations, collaborative committees, the provincial council, and more. The privileging dictionaries bring consistent, province-wide practice expectations for medical staff seeking privileges within BC’s health authorities.
The Interior Health Credentialing and Privileging office is responsible for the overall administrative management of practitioners (physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, and midwives) applying for medical staff membership or to renew their membership with Interior Health. Contact PhysicianCredentialing@interiorhealth.ca for inquiries related to your Credentialing and Privileging processes.
