About Gateway Stabilization Unit

Gateway is a five-bed, short stay Crisis Stabilization program that supports people in emotional or psychiatric distress and/or in need of sub-acute withdrawal management. Alongside this, the program supports with connection to community supports including social or other mental health services and psychiatry. The team supports with assessments, medication administration and monitoring, goal planning, stress management, mental illness diagnosis, treatment planning, and more.

Once you have contacted Gateway or supporting programs, a family physician or emergency room physician can support with ordering medication.

Is this a voluntary program?

Yes, Gateway is not a psychiatric unit.

Our Crisis Response Team is closely associated with, and can help facilitate your admission to Gateway, if appropriate. When the Substance Use Connections Team is unavailable (weekends and after business hours), our Crisis Response Team is here to help.

How can Substance Use Connections help me at Gateway?

Our Substance Use Connections Team helps to connect you to community based addictions care as well as Gateway Stabilization Unit. We work closely with Indigenous communities in the area to help facilitate access to services in Williams Lake and supports in your own community.
