Launched in September 2023, the Relational Security Officer (RSO) program brought security in-house at seven of Interior Health’s largest hospitals.

By embedding security staff directly into care teams, the program emphasizes trust and relationship-building, creating a more integrated approach to safety. Since the program’s successful launch, the initiative has expanded to South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver and Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm.

Clearwater and area residents are advised of temporary changes to emergency department hours at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital.

Lillooet and area residents are advised of temporary changes to emergency department hours at Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre.
 
Emergency services will be unavailable from 7 p.m. on Monday, June 9 to 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Patients can access care at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops during this time.
 
All other inpatient services will continue at Lillooet Hospital.
 

100 Mile House and area residents are advised of temporary changes to emergency department hours at 100 Mile District General Hospital.

Emergency services will be unavailable from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Patients can access care at Cariboo Memorial Hospital during this time.

All other inpatient services will continue at 100 Mile District General Hospital.

Conversations started in October 2023 with Métis Nation BC (MNBC), Native Education College (NEC) and Interior Health (IH) and, in July 2024, the first MNBC NEC cohort, based in Kamloops, began their Health Career Access Program (HCAP) training; six people graduated as part of this cohort on March 28, 2025.
