Haiphong City has long been known for its delicious street food, a blend of seafood and fresh ingredients. One of the most well-known dishes from Jennie’s hometown, and one of her personal favourites, is Banh Da Cua, a noodle soup that comes with an assortment of crab meat, shrimp, fish cakes and fresh herbs. Jennie encourages anyone who wants to branch out from popular Phở to try this dish.

Apart from being a foodie, one of Jennie’s passions is upcycling. Upcycling is the process of re-using or repurposing old items for new projects. Jennie has channeled this passion toward gardening and has begun planting fruit seeds like mandarin, avocado, mango and many others. She now has several baby plants and says she’s "only" years away from being ready to harvest.
Jennie also loves watching Korean dramas, also known as K-drama. She explains that the unique way Korean filmmakers tell stories, and the diverse library of genres, are what make K-dramas so exciting to watch.

Jennie joined the IH team as a co-op student. In her first role with IH, she supported the first cohort of the NAVIG8 Emerging Medical Leaders Program, the first health authority-led leadership development initiative for medical staff in B.C. This program offers valuable leadership knowledge and skills for emerging physicians so they can become successful leaders.
Jennie emphasizes that this role was hugely influential in her decision to pursue health-care communications, and grow her skills in conveying complex information in a clear, compelling and engaging manner to the public and to internal IH teams.

Two years later, and now a Communication and Engagement consultant, Jennie wants to empower new colleagues on her ever-growing team. Having gone through the onboarding process herself, Jennie wants to support new team members that are joining IH by answering any questions, extending a hand whenever possible, and improving systems and processes to enhance future onboarding experiences. In doing so, she hopes to make the transition for new team members as smooth and easy as possible.
Jennie now looks forward to being a part of the many innovations coming to IH and health care. The demand for timely information is higher than ever in this fast-growing and evolving sector, and advanced technologies are becoming more accessible. She’s particularly interested in how artificial intelligence (AI) can play a role in information and communication fields.

Jennie Bui nominates Atsuko Tanahara, Leader, Specialist Services Committee, to keep We Are IH going:
“Atsuko and I worked together in the Physician Engagement team when I first joined Interior Health. She has always been such a kind, compassionate and reliable colleague / big sister / role model to me.” - Jennie Bui
