Madison’s career pathway into sonography began as an X-ray technician at RIH in 2012. Two years later, she transitioned into the role of ultrasound technologist. She just received her 10-year service award.
“Helping patients with ultrasound is both interesting and rewarding,” says Madison. “Being able to assist in the diagnosis of a patient’s issues and getting to be a ‘detective,’ assessing each organ in question, makes each day different. My colleagues are also a huge inspiration to come into work every day. Our department as a whole is both fun and energetic, which makes working a pleasure.”
The proudest moment of Madison’s career at Interior Health was when she interviewed for a position to do management coverage for her department, and was the successful applicant.
On the home front, Madison and her partner have been together for five years, during which time they bought and renovated a house, and adopted a puppy. The couple just got married in May 2022 and went on a honeymoon to Ireland and Spain. It was when Madison and her husband returned to Canada that they got their second puppy – a Bernese Mountain Dog.
“Now, we’re looking forward to our next adventure as a newly married couple!”
In her spare time, Madison loves working on all kinds of crafts. She also enjoys hiking and fishing with family and friends.
On top of all of this, Madison recently started a small home-based business that consists of personalized glassware and tumblers, baby announcement boards, and monthly baby milestone markers.
Madison nominates Brenda Mercer, Professional Practice Lead, to keep We Are IH going:
“I would like to nominate Brenda Mercer because she always goes above and beyond for our department. She is such a caring and fun individual to work with, and will step in to help in any way she can. Whether it’s coving and ultrasound / echo, or helping with a personal problem. We couldn’t ask for a better manager and friend!” — Madison Waddington
