A mission in the fire zone: Evacuating The Pavilion care home

On Thursday, July 25, Interior Health started a precautionary evacuation of residents of The Pavilion long-term care home in New Denver.

Nearby Silverton—a small town of 200 on Slocan Lake—had already been issued an evacuation order the day before due to the advancing Aylwin Creek fire. By mid-afternoon on July 25, New Denver was on an evacuation alert.

UPDATE: Boundary District Hospital emergency department to open at 8 p.m. Aug. 26

Grand Forks and area residents are advised that Interior Health has secured physician coverage tonight for the emergency department at Boundary District Hospital. The emergency department will be open effective 8 p.m. Monday, August 26.

People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (i.e., chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.  

Temporary service interruption at South Okanagan General Hospital emergency department

Oliver and area residents are advised of temporary changes to emergency department hours at South Okanagan General Hospital due to limited physician availability.

 

Emergency services will be unavailable from 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 24 to 7 a.m. on Sunday, August 25.  Patients can access care at Penticton Regional Hospital during this time.
