How Interior Health helps seniors stay safe and supported at home

Interior Health works to keep people in their home before long-term care is discussed.

For many older adults, home is far more than just a place to live. It is comfort, familiarity, routine and independence.

As people age or experience changes in their health, staying at home safely can become more challenging, but that does not always mean moving immediately into long-term care.

At Interior Health (IH), the goal is to help people remain in their homes and communities for as long as possible by providing the right supports at the right time.

“We always want to support older adults living at their home as long as possible,” explains IH’s clinical specialist on the Community Integration Team Jody Alluri. “The first step is to provide services in the home.”
