About Kootenay Lake Hospital

The Kootenay Lake Hospital is a Level 1 Community Hospital in the Kootenay Boundary health service area. Located in Nelson, south B.C., the hospital offers services including surgical, inpatient and emergency.  

Update: The old main entrance at Kootenay Lake Hospital is once again open to staff and the public, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., seven days a week. During after hours, these doors will be closed. Patients needing emergency care can continue to access 24/7 services using the emergency department door. 

If you do not need emergency care, please enter through the old main entrance. Our staff will be there to greet and assist you with wayfinding.

Other Info: After 8 p.m. all family members and patient support visitors are requested to use the emergency department entrance and use the intercom system there to connect with the floor (unit) they want to visit to gain access.
