Policies and guidelines for our board of directors

The Interior Health Board of Directors has approved a series of formal policy statements (Key Board Policies), which address the governance structure of the Interior Health Authority. The statements accomplish the following:

  • describe the role of the Board of Directors and its relationship with management;
  • define the role of the Board Chair, Directors and the President and Chief Executive Officer;
  • establish the committees required to assist the Board in the discharge of its mandate;
  • set the standards for organizational conduct;
  • govern how the Board will conduct its affair;, and
  • record the policy position of the Board in respect to a wide range of issues including communications and Board accessibility.

All of these policies are regularly reviewed by the Governance Committee and by the Board and are periodically updated to meet changing needs.
